Romantic Fleurieu Waterfall Glamping | The Falls | Cabin in Hindmarsh Valley
1 Bedroom Cabin in Hindmarsh Valley
About this space
Escape to a private safari tent perched above the Fleurieu’s valleys, with your own waterfall gorge on the doorstep. Soak in the outdoor bath, unwind by the firepit, and wake to uninterrupted views over bushland to the sea. Just an hour from Adelaide, minutes from Victor Harbor and Port Elliot — a true off-grid retreat without sacrificing comfort or privacy.
The space
Your luxury, off-grid safari tent offers a seamless blend of elegance and nature, creating the perfect wilderness weekend escape just 50 minutes from Adelaide and 10 minutes from Victor Harbor and the stunning local beaches.
This project has been a labour of love by owners Jake and Harriet, whose desire is to share their family owned farm and showcase one of the most magical spots the Fleurieu Peninsula has to offer. The property boasts an incredible gorge with 100 metre high cliffs, three amazing winter/spring waterfalls, spectacular views down through Inman Valley to Victor Harbor and the sea, and an absolute abundance of bird and wildlife; resident wedge tailed eagles, peregrine falcons, echidnas, koalas and more kangaroos than you could shake a stick at.
Every single aspect of The Falls at Strangways has been designed with the environment and its conservation in mind. Totally off
-grid and as carbon neutral as possible, Jake and Harriet have spent years crafting this project into something that both treads lightly and makes an impact on its guests.
Inside the African style safari tent, every detail has been thoughtfully considered. The king-size bed features a state of the art frame and mattress ensuring ultimate comfort, and the ensuite bathroom elevates the 'glamping' aspect of your stay. The meticulously designed interior is bought to life by a charming wood heater, carefully selected furnishings and heating and cooling to ensure year round comfort.
A kitchenette is equipped for simple meal prep (and great coffee) and fast and efficient Wifi means you can choose how 'off-grid' you want to be. We recommend fully! But understand that life doesn't always go away.
Step outside onto the private deck, where breathtaking views of the gorge, rolling hills, and the distant sea meet. Indulge in the luxe outdoor bath for a truly unique experience, or gather around the fire pit as the stars light up the evening sky.
Beyond the accommodation itself, the opportunities for adventure and nature immersion are boundless here. The waterfalls and surrounding forest are on private property and yours to explore. Bring your fishing rod for a serene morning fishing for rainbow trout in the dam, and Birdwatching provides a (surprisingly) exciting and time consuming activity. Springmount National Park borders the farm and also boasts a plethora of walking trails. Not to mention all that the Fleurieu has to offer - incredible beaches, the iconic McClaren Vale wine region and a whole host of wonderful restaurants and cafes, all within a 20 minute drive.

Other things to note
FIRE SAFETY POLICY;
** Due to the remote and natural setting of our property, we take fire safety very seriously.
In line with council regulations, on days rated as catastrophic fire danger we will be unable to accommodate guests. Any bookings will be fully refunded if this is forecast during your booking.
We have a comprehensive fire plan in place, including a designated fire refuge area. If an extreme fire warning is issued during your stay, we will work with you to find the best solution, which may include rescheduling your reservation prior to or during your stay, or a full refund, whichever you prefer. Please be sure to review our fire safety plan upon booking, and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
FIRE EMERGENCY PLAN
In the event of a fire please follow these steps below.
Stay up to date with the local CFS for advice and download the CFS app before your arrival. (We will be in contact with you should we need to reschedule your booking due to high fire danger) The nearest bushfire safe place is the township of Victor Harbor which is 15 minuets away.
Turn left at the end of the driveway onto Strangways Road. We recommend you evacuate early on the day in an event of a fire.
The use of the provided bushfire refuge located on the property is not recommended and should only be used if your plan has failed and you cannot reach a bushfire safer place.
A copy of our fire plan including emergency contact information will be at the property for your reference.
Fire ban is usual November through to the end of April.
PLEASE NOTE PRIOR TO BOOKING:
The walking paths around the waterfalls are beautiful, but please be aware that they can be slippery, uneven, and include some steep drop-offs. These areas are located approximately 700 meters from the tents, and while we encourage you to explore and enjoy the breathtaking views, access to the waterfalls is at your OWN RISK.
For your safety, we recommend wearing sturdy shoes and exercising caution around the water, especially after rainfall, as well as near any steep or rugged terrain. If you're looking for a more relaxed experience, there are also lovely picnic areas that are much easier to access and perfect for unwinding.
Upon arrival, you'll receive a map to help guide you to both the waterfalls and the picnic areas, making your adventure as smooth as possible!
